The Spirit of Democracy – Part 4
Shifting from Sexism to Freedom for All
By Rev. Michael R Neuert (Part 4, published on 11-4-24)
Democracy is the energy of care, respect and abundance – of everyone getting their needs met. And each of us has our own unique part to play in this divine creation. Tag, we are it!
As a clairvoyant, I focus a lot on the sixth chakra, an energy center in the head near the pineal gland. Chakras are energy points in the body that connect our physical and spiritual selves. The sixth chakra, or “spiritual eye,” helps us see reality and understand the world around us more clearly.
Sometimes people have “foreign” energy (energy from others) around their sixth chakra. This makes them more likely to see the world through a “filter” created by someone or something else. They see what they are conditioned to see, and ignore anything that doesn’t fit the “story.”
Joining a Cult
When I was 25, I spent some time in the “Moonies,” a well-known religious cult. I have several friends and clients who spent many years following Rev. Moon, L Ron Hubbard, Da Free John and others, before they found their own spiritual “sovereignty” and finally left the cult.
Cults give people a sense of clarity, belonging and purpose, when underneath they are feeling frightened, lonely and confused about life. But joining a cult is like putting on dark glasses – you see what the cult “energy” wants you to see. Typically, they create a worldview that divides people: “we” are right – and “they” are wrong, evil, dangerous.
My Father’s Patriotism
For example, I often saw this with my own father. He had served in the Nazi army in World War II, and then served again in the U.S. Army when he immigrated to America. He highly valued patriotism, and serving one’s country in this kind of way.
And from the very beginning, my dad strongly supported Donald Trump. My father also shared his disdain and hatred for Hillary Clinton. He said he could never vote for Hillary, because her husband Bill was a draft dodger. And he was sincere about this.
Denial of Reality
But he couldn’t consider that Trump had also dodged the draft – that Donald’s rich father paid a doctor to make up a bone spur story and save Donald from serving in Vietnam. To my father, that detail not only didn’t exist, it couldn’t exist. It did not fit into his paradigm of belief.
And to some degree, we all do this. It’s part of human nature. It’s part of our innate human survival mechanisms to avoid uncomfortable truths. But cultist groups can take this “filtering of reality” to astounding levels of disconnection from truth.
Racism and Sexism
My dad was a kind and gentle man. But growing up in Nazi Germany, he was obviously indoctrinated with a level of racism and sexism that lasted all his life. It still baffles me, that the year he died, his greatest pain/complaint was that our family home was sold to a mixed race couple.
Like most of us, he couldn’t see his own biases, and instead he projected them onto others. Donald was the honest speaking patriot, while Hillary was a liar and cheater. Donald cared about the country, while Hillary was only out for her own benefit.
But underlying that, I could see the real problem was that Hilary was a woman. He could not tolerate the possibility of a female becoming president. He was wrapped in a cult of sexism, with prejudiced beliefs about certain limitations about women’s power, and their place in the world.
The Cult of Trump
Cults come in many forms – religious, nationalistic, racial, and economic. Sometimes, one leader attracts followers from several types of groups. For example, Donald’s followers include religious extremists, white supremacists, misogynists, American nationalists, conspiracy theorists, and economic elites who value wealth and power over democracy.
As Steven Hassan points out in his book The Cult of Trump, Donald’s popularity is as strong as it is, precisely because he appeals to many different cult groups at the same time. And I propose that the strongest “shared belief” that unites many Donald supporters – both men and women – is the underlying cult of sexism.
The World’s Biggest Cult is Sexism
All cults share certain traits. They create a narrow view of reality, ignoring or denying anything that doesn’t fit their beliefs. They often follow strict rules and project their own shortcomings onto others. This can lead to harm, whether through lies, control, or even violence, all in defense of what they see as “the truth.”
Perhaps the beauty of this moment is that the cult of sexism – having been so entrenched in human culture for thousands of years – is now on full display for all to see. Perhaps Donald plays a necessary role as “poster child” for the old false masculine – to help us evolve into more balance with the restorative feminine. Deep change wants to happen.
The Tipping Point of Paradigm Change?
I believe that at the core, the ultimate response to any cult belief, is our own spiritual growth. As each one of us transforms, we also help transform the collective. And as each one of us welcomes in the restorative feminine, we also make it safer for others to do the same.
This is not easy work. Faced with fear, parts of us may cling to limiting belief systems, as a kind of protective survival mechanism. But by doing our own inner work, we cast our spiritual vote for the world we want – one that incorporates the divine feminine on a global scale.
Doing the Work!
Right now, it is important for each of us to connect with our deeper selves, act with integrity, and radiate a grand wish for everyone’s well-being. This is the spirit of democracy. We are all trailblazers. This is not easy work. But it is very important to work.
As our society shifts, with more focus on including the feminine, many people and groups want to return to the past. Are we close to the tipping point where this important change in human awareness can no longer be ignored? Tag we’re it.
